Brief 1: Produce a background report on an individual who will be using care services for the first time


Question 1(a) Action Plan

The candidate was awarded 5 marks because there was a full description of Bob`s condition and why he is suitable for the project. There was 4 relevant points of explanation.


Question 1(b)

The candidate was awarded 1 mark because although they did mention all three areas of the project and timescale the information was weak with minimal tasks and little detail.


Question 1(c)

The candidate was awarded 3 marks because two sources chosen looked at 3 appropriate areas of research.

-Types of care


Question 2(a) Responding to the brief

The candidate was awarded 8 marks
Physical needs 2 marks
Emotional needs 3 marks
Social needs 2 marks
Cognitive need 1 mark as reference was made to physical need
In each area the candidate looked at the care worker’s role in assisting Bob.


Question 2(b)

The candidate was awarded 8 marks with 4 marks allocated to each psychological theory.

Question 2(f)

The candidate was awarded 1 mark because they did not answer the question fully and only gave a list of where they found information without appropriate or correctly referencing.

The candidate was awarded 2 marks because all sections were complete with only a few errors and project did relate to Bob and his needs.


Question 3(a) Evaluation

The candidate was awarded 2 marks because there is little reference to the Plan or Log with a poor response to the question overall. Marks were awarded for
difficulty in getting information about care services linked to Bob`s disability 1 mark.
Finding out what Bob could do to help himself 1 mark.


Question 3(b)

The candidate was awarded 4 marks because in each of the candidates 4 bullet points they reflected on what they would do differently therefore a point was awarded for each.


Question 3(c)

The candidate was awarded 3 marks as they reflected on how they might use their knowledge and understanding gained.
