Candidate 1

Question 1

The candidate was awarded 4 marks because:

  • Rock ‘n’ Roll, 1960s, Electronica and Instrumental Break are the correct answers for parts (a) to (d).

Question 2

The candidate was awarded 3 marks because:

  • Delay and Synthesiser are the correct answers for parts (a) and (b).
  • Condenser microphone is also the correct answer for part (c) (i).
  • Uni direction is incorrect for part (c) (ii)
  • “Right beside the guitar” is not specific enough to be awarded 1 mark for part (c) (iii).

Question 3

The candidate was awarded 6 marks because:

  • Synth Pop is the correct answer for part (a).
  • Synthesiser is one correct answer for part (b), however heavy drum beats is not acceptable as a production feature for synth pop. The candidate was awarded 1 mark for part (b).
  • Punk and Minor are the correct answers for part (c)
  • Electric Guitar and Reverb are the correct answers for parts (d) and (e)

Question 4

The candidate was awarded 2 marks because:

  • Celtic Rock is the correct answer for part (a) (i)
  • 3/4 is not the correct answer for part (a) (ii)
  • ‘Turn the gain up’ is an acceptable answer in part (b), however ‘turn the reverb up’ is not a correct answer. The candidate was awarded 1 mark for part (b).

Question 5

The candidate was awarded 1 mark because:

  • Reverb was correctly identified as being applied to the Accordion.
  • All other answers were incorrect and the candidate was awarded 1 mark in total.

Question 6

The candidate was awarded 1 mark because:

  • For part (a) the candidate incorrectly identified the instruments and the effects/panning applied.
  • Major is the correct answer for part (b) and was awarded 1 mark in total.


Total Mark: 17 out of 30
